The short answer
Digital marketing in Saudi Arabia is Arabic-first, mobile-first and short-video-led. The channels that carry the most commercial weight are short video (TikTok and Snapchat), search, creator content, and increasingly retail media inside the large regional marketplaces.
The sequencing that works for most brands: creator content to build trust and supply creative, paid social to scale the creative that proves itself, search to capture the demand that results, and CRM to keep it.
Search
Arabic search intent differs from English intent in the same market, and the two rarely map one-to-one. Brands that translate an English keyword set into Arabic usually target phrasing nobody types.
Category and comparison queries are increasingly answered inside AI assistants and platform search rather than only on a results page, which raises the value of clearly structured, factual, verifiable content over keyword-padded pages.
Paid social and short video
TikTok is where discovery and creative testing happen at volume. Snapchat holds daily habit and direct-response strength with national audiences. Instagram leads for fashion, beauty and dining. YouTube carries considered purchases.
Creative is the main variable, not targeting. Vertical, Arabic-spoken, creator-made assets consistently outperform adapted brand film in the Kingdom.
Creator content as media supply
The most useful shift in the last few years is treating creators as a content supply chain rather than a distribution buy. A brand commissioning fifteen creator assets a month has fifteen chances to find the ad that works, at a lower unit cost than studio production.
That is also why usage rights should be negotiated at the outset: content you cannot run as paid media is worth a fraction of content you can.
Measurement
Per-creator codes and links, platform-level attribution read with appropriate scepticism, and a defined reporting cadence that allows reallocation mid-campaign. Uplift measured against a pre-campaign baseline is more honest than any single platform number.
Localisation and compliance
Dialect and tone are a planning decision, not a translation step. Najdi and Hijazi tone read differently to the same national audience, and formal Modern Standard Arabic reads institutional in contexts where warmth is needed.
Advertising disclosure is expected on commercial creator content, and creators publishing advertising in the Kingdom are expected to be appropriately licensed. Build verification into the casting process.
